A great lesson encouraging students to put their knowledge of colour theory into practice. Explain the different colour schemes and harmonies to students then ask them to show that they understand by colouring in the plants, birds and flowers using specific colour schemes and harmonies. A great lesson starter to get students thinking about text and typography and how graphic designers use this principle of design effectively. Which font is Serif and which one is Sans-Serif? The aim is to make students aware that typography is a complex but easy to follow system. Ask students why different fonts can have a varied impression on the audience. For example Serif can be used for formal occasions and Sans Serif might be used to grab a customer’s attention.
